Walk downstream along the River Wear from Durham in late July.
A sad sight: St. Aloysius Chapel of the former boarding school at Ushaw College badly damaged by fire (likely arson).
Elephant Trees walk: (Top left) Weardale Railway from Wolsingham to Frosterley, (top right) heading up the south side of the valley and the following the heath line back towards Frosterley, past a clump of trees (bottom) known as “Elephant Trees” from their distinctive shape on the horizon.
