The brick works and the branch line serving it are long closed.  Apparently it is now a good place for <a title=\"Fishing at Brasside Pond\" href=\"http:\/\/www.go-fish.co.uk\/venue_1888.htm\">carp fishing<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/index.php\/2009\/01\/frankland-lane\/franklandprison-1\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/01\/FranklandPrison_1-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"FranklandPrison 1\" title=\"FranklandPrison 1\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-4915\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Wikipedia on Frankland prison\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Frankland_Prison\">Frankland prison<\/a> is a medium\/high security facility which butts onto the Pond.
