Fortunately it wasn&#8217;t necessary to use this bridge!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/index.php\/2011\/10\/glencoe-ii\/blackwaterreservoir\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/BlackwaterReservoir-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"BlackwaterReservoir\" title=\"BlackwaterReservoir\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-5878\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The extensive <a title=\"Wikipedia on Blackwater reservoir\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Blackwater_Reservoir\">Blackwater reservoir<\/a> [56 42 20 N, 4 51 42 W] was built in the early 1900s to power an aluminium smelter down in <a title=\"Wikipedia on Kinlochleven\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kinlochleven\">Kinlochleven<\/a> via hydroelectricity. The aluminium plant closed in 2000, although the hydro plant is still running. For no very good reason the top of the reservoir is closed, and we had to scramble our way around its base.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/index.php\/2011\/10\/glencoe-ii\/blackwateraminita\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/BlackwaterAminita-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"BlackwaterAminita\" title=\"BlackwaterAminita\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-5873\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The flecks of veil on the cap suggest a member of the usually toxic <em><a title=\"Wikipedia on amanita\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Amanita\">amanita<\/a><\/em> genus.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/index.php\/2011\/10\/glencoe-ii\/blackwatertarns\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/BlackwaterTarns-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"BlackwaterTarns\" title=\"BlackwaterTarns\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-5879\" \/><\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/index.php\/2011\/10\/glencoe-ii\/blackwatermountains\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/BlackwaterMountains-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"BlackwaterMountains\" title=\"BlackwaterMountains\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-5877\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>(L) Views of the tarns below the reservoir &#8211; pretty but breeding grounds for evil blood-sucking <a title=\"Wikipedia on horse fly\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Horse-fly\">clegs<\/a>.
