The combination of very indifferent weather and the busy exams season has meant a pretty thin crop of photos of late. Hence this rather random collection.<\/p>\n

\nView down the nave of York Minster<\/a> [53 57 45 N, 1 4 55 W]. Although Durham cathedral<\/a> is unparalleled in its magnificent location and its solid architecture, it must be admitted that York is the winner in the beauty and grace stakes.<\/p>\n

\"YorkHospitium\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The Hospitium [53 57 40 N, 1 5 22 W] in the grounds of the former St. Mary’s abbey dates from the 14th C and is thought to have been a resting place for travellers visiting the abbey.<\/p>\n

The River Wear from Baths Bridge – a footbridge crossing the river at the (soon to be former) city swimming baths. The old racecourse in the righthand background is a common venue for large outdoor events, here a post-exam student music festival<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Naturally Durham couldn’t aspire to being the Oxbridge of the North without rowers…<\/p>\n
