The wood is split by a major road and is only really interesting once across the footbridge over the A1(M).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/index.php\/2008\/02\/rainton-park-wood\/raintonwood-lc\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/02\/Raintonwood_LC-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Raintonwood LC\" title=\"Raintonwood LC\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-4729\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Level crossing over the disused <a title=\"Wikipedia on the Leamside Line\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Leamside_Line\">Leamside Line<\/a>, once part of the <a title=\"Wikipedia on the ECML\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/East_Coast_Main_Line\">East Coast Main Line<\/a> between London and Edinburgh.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/index.php\/2008\/02\/rainton-park-wood\/raintonwood-steps\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/02\/Raintonwood_steps-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Raintonwood steps\" title=\"Raintonwood steps\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-4724\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Steps down towards the riverside section.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/index.php\/2008\/02\/rainton-park-wood\/raintonwood-wear\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/02\/Raintonwood_Wear-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Raintonwood Wear\" title=\"Raintonwood Wear\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-4726\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Wikipedia on the River Wear\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/River_Wear\">River Wear<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/index.php\/2008\/02\/rainton-park-wood\/raintonwood-bridge\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/02\/Raintonwood_bridge-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Raintonwood bridge\" title=\"Raintonwood bridge\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-4725\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Firmly closed off bridge across the Wear  [54 48 39 N, 1 32 6 W].
