A nice example of a milk cap<\/a> (Lactarius<\/em>), with the underside oozing white latex.<\/p>\n

A bolete<\/a> from Gibside, showing the characteristic underside of pores rather than gills.<\/p>\n

This is probably a Blusher<\/a> (Amanita rubescens), as similar specimens nearby were flushed pink where damaged.\u00a0 Although nominally edible after cooking, it’s best to steer clear of Amanita<\/a> species completely.<\/p>\n

\"GibsideStinkhorn\"<\/a><\/p>\n

A stinkhorn<\/a> (Latin name, Phallus impudicus<\/em>, for obvious reasons…).\u00a0 When first mature, the head is covered with a foul smelling green-brown gunge which attracts insects which then carry off the spores.\u00a0 This example had lost its malodorous goo.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
