The Waskerley Way cycle \/ walking route is constructed on a section of the former\u00a0Stanhope and Tyne mineral railway<\/a>. (L) In the early days, wagons were hauled by horses over level sections and so stone blocks rather than sleepers were used to allow the horses to walk between the rails.<\/p>\n
