Views of Mont Blanc<\/a> from the Aiguille du Midi<\/a> over the Cosmiques arr\u00eate. As it says on on the climbing web sites: \u00a0“It’s now time to look cool – and try not to fall off – as you’re being photographed by dozens of tourists on the viewing platform ahead!<\/em>”<\/p>\n

Views across the Vall\u00e9e Blanche. (L) In the bottom middle you can just make out 2 sets of 3 gondolas of the\u00a0Vall\u00e9e Blanche aerial tramway<\/a>\u00a0making the traverse across to Pointe Helbronner in Italy.<\/p>\n

High altitude construction: (L) Using an angle grinder while roped up must be a pretty specialist job! (R) Delivering construction materials for an extension to the Aiguille station by helicopter similarly can’t be dull!<\/p>\n

There had been a Benedictine priory in Chamonix from about the 12th C, with the current church dating from 1709. The “onion” bell tower is fairly typical of the Savoy<\/a> region, reflecting Germanic influences.<\/p>\n
