(L) Batsford Arboretum<\/a>. Road access to the arboretum was blocked by road works on the day we walked over from Blockley, but the staff were happy to let us in to explore – perfect for a roasting hot day! (R) Batsford<\/a> parish church.<\/p>\n

Chastleton House<\/strong><\/p>\n

Chastleton House<\/a> is a Jacobean country house now owned by the National Trust. The family that owned the property had had much of their land confiscated, and so were relatively poor. As a result the house largely escaped modernisation.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

(L) This bedroom looks as if its occupant could return any moment! (R) The spectacular long (22 m) gallery would have been used for exercise when the weather was poor.<\/p>\n

Hidcote<\/strong><\/p>\n

Hidcote Manor garden<\/a> (NT) is a spectacular example of an “Arts and Crafts” garden with multiple “rooms” containing different plantings. Well worth visiting even for non-gardeners, the green-fingered would be in paradise.<\/p>\n

Chipping Campden<\/a>, close to Hidcote, was almost too twee for its own good. With so much gorgeous Cotswold stone on view, it was difficult decide what to photograph!<\/p>\n

Main room of the holiday cottage in Blockley. Highly recommended!<\/p>\n
