Bassenthwaite Lake<\/a> has the curious distinction of being the only lake in the Lake District<\/a> to have “lake” in its name (the others are “waters”, “meres” etc.).<\/p>\n

The charming St. Bega<\/a>‘s church, beautifully sited by the shores of Bassenthwaite.<\/p>\n

View back towards Derwentwater part way up a climb from Seatoller<\/a> to Glaramara<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Spot the herdy! Tough animals for a tough environment, the wool of the\u00a0Herdwick<\/a>\u00a0is quite thick and coarse.<\/p>\n
