The blue brickwork of the police station was most unusual. Note also the full stop after “Police Station”.<\/p>\n

The remains of the Cluniac monastery, Wenlock Priory<\/a> (English Heritage) and (R) the lavatorium, where the monks would have washed before meals.<\/p>\n

Ironbridge<\/strong><\/p>\n

(L) The town of Ironbridge<\/a> is named after the iron bridge across the Severn<\/a>. (R)\u00a0View of the\u00a0Ironbridge Gorge<\/a>\u00a0downstream from Iron Bridge.<\/p>\n

Built in 1779-81, this<\/a> was the first arch bridge to be made of cast iron, and is a dramatic symbol of the region’s role in the Industrial Revolution<\/a>.<\/p>\n

(L) Blists Hill Victorian Town<\/a> is the centrepiece of a cluster of museums in and around Ironbridge; a Midlands equivalent of the local Beamish open-air museum<\/a>. (R) The Hay inclined plane<\/a> used to lift canal boats between the Severn and the Blists Hill industrial area.<\/p>\n

Bridgnorth<\/strong><\/p>\n

The unusual cliff railway<\/a> at Bridgnorth<\/a>, which connects the “upper” and “lower” town.<\/p>\n

(L) Bridgnorth and (R) Hampton Loade stations on the Severn Valley railway<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Bluebells on the Dudmaston estate, on the walk up from Hampton Loade<\/a>. Sadly the Hampton Loade ferry wasn’t running that day.<\/p>\n
