href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rochdale_Canal\">Rochdale canal<\/a> through <a title=\"Wikipedia on Hebden Bridge\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hebden_Bridge\">Hebden Bridge<\/a> has frozen over.\u00a0 Hebden Bridge, like many of the surrounding communities of West Yorkshire developed as the result of the Industrial Revolution.\u00a0 These days the industry is long gone and the town has developed something of an artistic \/ alternative culture, and has the unusual distinction of having the largest population density of lesbians in UK.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/index.php\/2010\/02\/hebden-bridge-and-heptonstall\/hebdenbridgephonebox\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/HebdenBridgePhoneBox-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"HebdenBridgePhoneBox\" title=\"HebdenBridgePhoneBox\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-5210\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Old-style phone box in <a title=\"Wikipedia on Heptonstall\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Heptonstall\">Heptonstall<\/a>.\u00a0 The hillside village of Heptonstall was the original settlement in this part of the upper Calder valley, until the development of the mills in Hebden Bridge and the draining of the marshy valley bottom.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/index.php\/2010\/02\/hebden-bridge-and-heptonstall\/heptonstalloldchurch-2\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/HeptonStallOldChurch-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"HeptonStallOldChurch\" title=\"HeptonStallOldChurch\" width=\"150\" church was built next door!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/index.php\/2010\/02\/hebden-bridge-and-heptonstall\/hebdenbridgesnowytrees\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\"
