Basilica of the Sacr\u00e9 Coeur<\/a> [48 53 9 N, 2 30 36 E], Montmartre. The similarity of style and prominent location with the Notre-Dame Basilica<\/a> in Lyon is not a coincidence; both were built at the end of the 19th C as symbols of a Church triumphant over revolutionary socialist movements.<\/p>\n

The Mus\u00e9e d’Orsay<\/a> is a magnificent collection of mostly later 19th C French art housed in the former Gare d’Orsay.<\/p>\n

Van Gogh’s “Maison \u00e0\u00a0 Cordeville”.\u00a0 The angle shows the thickness of the paint strokes.<\/p>\n

\"ParisImpressionist\"<\/a><\/p>\n

A nice example of the Impressionists.\u00a0 Unfortunately I can’t now remember the artist!<\/p>\n

\"ParisFurniture\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The museum also has an interesting small collection of furniture from the period.<\/p>\n

\"ParisHotel\"<\/a><\/p>\n

For a hotel in the centre of Paris, the H\u00f4tel Saint-Louis Bastille<\/a> offered excellent quality for quite a reasonable rate.\u00a0 Very convenient for the Gare de Lyon.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
