The chapel was created by <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/John_Cosin\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/John_Cosin\" target=\"_blank\">John Cosin<\/a> as part of a rebuilding of Auckland Castle. Most other villages and towns in the area are decidedly un-quaint 19th C colliery communities&#8230; (R) Lunch spot at Chourdon Point overlooking the sea after walking through <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.durhamwt.com\/nature-reserves\/hawthorn-dene\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.durhamwt.com\/nature-reserves\/hawthorn-dene\" target=\"_blank\">Hawthorn Dene Nature Reserve<\/a> (Durham Wildlife Trust).  <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-1 wp-block-gallery-4 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\"><ul class=\"blocks-gallery-grid\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><a href=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/MinersWoodMeadow.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"196\" src=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/MinersWoodMeadow-300x196.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"11660\" data-full-url=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/MinersWoodMeadow.jpg\" data-link=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/?attachment_id=11660\" class=\"wp-image-11660\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/li><\/ul><figcaption class=\"blocks-gallery-caption\">Meadow full of interesting plants between Miners&#8217; Wood (Woodland Trust) and the Lanchester Valley Railway Path (in the line of trees).
