Views of Terminal 5<\/a> at Heathrow.\u00a0 British Airways have consolidated their flights onto this new terminal, moving out of the increasingly shabby Terminals 1\/2 (which are due to be demolished and rebuilt).\u00a0 A much better experience on the journey out, the return was less impressive with huge queues at the security check.\u00a0 It’s still hard to beat Schipol as a hub.<\/p>\n

Views towards Mont Blanc<\/a>, the highest mountain in the Alps and Western Europe.\u00a0 The perspective is rather deceptive – this is a serious mountain!<\/p>\n

A slot machine hall (machines \u00e0\u00a0 sous) looks so much classier in French and with ivy growing up the building!\u00a0 Vegas this isn’t…<\/p>\n

Staying an extra night, we moved out of the conference-booked hotel, le Prieur\u00e9<\/a> (where I’d found the beds a bit on the hard side) to the oddly named hotel Gourmets et Italy<\/a>.\u00a0 The rooms here were small, but cosy and good value.\u00a0 The staff were helpful and the bed was perhaps the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in.\u00a0 Thoroughly recommended.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
