it&#8217;s just the perspective!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/index.php\/2009\/08\/stockholm-iii-out-and-about\/stockholmboatmuseum\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/StockholmBoatMuseum-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"StockholmBoatMuseum\" title=\"StockholmBoatMuseum\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-5040\" \/><\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/index.php\/2009\/08\/stockholm-iii-out-and-about\/stockholmboats2\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/StockholmBoats2-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"StockholmBoats2\" title=\"StockholmBoats2\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-5041\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Skeppsholmen is home to a small, but perfectly formed, museum of boats.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/index.php\/2009\/08\/stockholm-iii-out-and-about\/stockholmdjurgardenferry\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/StockholmDjurgardenFerry-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"StockholmDjurgardenFerry\" title=\"StockholmDjurgardenFerry\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-5045\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A ferry shuttles between the islands of Skeppsholmen and Djurg\u00e5rden saving a long journey round.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/index.php\/2009\/08\/stockholm-iii-out-and-about\/stockholmkastellholmen\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/StockholmKastellholmen-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"StockholmKastellholmen\" title=\"StockholmKastellholmen\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-5047\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The tiny islet of <a title=\"Wikipedia on Kastellholmen\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kastellholmen\">Kastellholmen<\/a> viewed from the Djurg\u00e5rden ferry.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/index.php\/2009\/08\/stockholm-iii-out-and-about\/stockholmdesign\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/StockholmDesign-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"StockholmDesign\" title=\"StockholmDesign\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-5044\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Design is naturally a serious business for Stockholmers!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/index.php\/2009\/08\/stockholm-iii-out-and-about\/stockholmcentralstation\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/StockholmCentralStation-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"StockholmCentralStation\" title=\"StockholmCentralStation\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-5043\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Stockholm&#8217;s central station [59 19 48 N, 18 3 26 E].<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/index.php\/2009\/08\/stockholm-iii-out-and-about\/stockholmtrain\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/StockholmTrain-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"StockholmTrain\" title=\"StockholmTrain\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-5050\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Commuter train to <a title=\"Wikipedia on Balsta\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Balsta\">B\u00e5lsta<\/a>, where the meeting was being held.\u00a0 Needless to say, the transport was all very clean and efficient and generally well signposted &#8211; although the platforms for the commuter trains only seemed to be announced when the train was in the station!<\/p>\n<h3>Accommodation<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/index.php\/2009\/08\/stockholm-iii-out-and-about\/stockholmadlonhotel\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/StockholmAdlonHotel-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"StockholmAdlonHotel\" title=\"StockholmAdlonHotel\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-5039\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>On the weekend before the meeting I stayed in the <a title=\"Adlon Hotel web site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.adlon.se\/\">Adlon Hotel<\/a> [59 20 0 N, 18 3 26 E] in Norrmalm.\u00a0 Oddly prices seemed cheaper over the weekend than during the week, and this was an excellent hotel at a very reasonable price for central Stockholm.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/index.php\/2009\/08\/stockholm-iii-out-and-about\/stockholmthermometer\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/StockholmThermometer-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"StockholmThermometer\" title=\"StockholmThermometer\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-5049\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Note the triple glazing (so road noise from Vasagaten was minimal) and the thermometer telling you the temperature outside &#8211; very handy!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/index.php\/2009\/08\/stockholm-iii-out-and-about\/stockholmvictoryhotel\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/StockholmVictoryHotel-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"StockholmVictoryHotel\" title=\"StockholmVictoryHotel\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-5051\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>On the return leg, I stayed at the <a title=\"Victory Hotel web site\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thecollectorshotels.se\/en\/victory\/\">Victory Hotel<\/a> [59 19 27 N, 18 4 4 E].\u00a0 Like all hotels in Gamla Stan, the room was small and not cheap, but it was a nice treat.\u00a0 (The &#8220;Victory&#8221; comes from admiral <a title=\"Wikipedia on HMS Victory\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/HMS_Victory\">Nelson&#8217;s flagship<\/a>.\u00a0 The same owners also run the Lord Nelson and Lady Hamilton hotels in Gamla Stan &#8211;
