Although edible, it is not recommended as it easily confused with the deadly poisonous <em><a title=\"Wikipedia on Galerina\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Galerina\">Galerina marginata<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/index.php\/2012\/01\/fungi-and-shibden-hall\/pickeringlepista\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ph-images.webspace.durham.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/PickeringLepista-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"PickeringLepista\" title=\"PickeringLepista\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-6024\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Probably something in the &#8220;<a title=\"Wikipedia on Lepista\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lepista\">Lepista<\/a>&#8221; The room on the right looked to be a cosy snug, but turned out to be a communicating room used to pass food etc. between &#8220;backstairs&#8221; servants (who weren&#8217;t allowed to be seen) and &#8220;front of house&#8221; servants. In fact a passageway had been dug underneath the house to allow lower-class servants to pass from one end of the house to the other without being seen!
