A replica Planet locomotive<\/a> (Robert Stephenson & Co.).<\/p>\n

The somewhat quirky and unusual National Gas Museum<\/a>! A reminder of the filthy business of producing gas from coal<\/a> production before the conversion to natural gas.<\/p>\n

Salford<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"SalfordMediaCity\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The Salford Quays<\/a> sit at the end of the Manchester Ship Canal<\/a>. After falling into disuse with the rise of large shipping containers in the 1970s, the quays were the focus of a major regeneration effort in the 1990s. In front is the huge MediaCityUK<\/a> complex, to which large sections of the BBC are being relocated. The Lowry<\/a> arts centre is on the right, and the Daniel Libeskind-designed Imperial War Museum North<\/a> is off the picture to the left.<\/p>\n
