The Lumiere festival in mid-November saw Durham lit up with a large number of light installations.  The weather wasn’t too kind and it wasn’t on the same scale as Lyon’s Fête des Lumières, but it was spectacular nonetheless (although difficult to do justice to without a high-end camera and tripod).
