A set of pictures from a short visit to London in mid May.

(L) Hyde Park and (R) the surprisingly gaudy Albert Memorial. The original gilding was restored in the 2000s; for most of its lifetime, Albert’s statue had been painted black.

(Top left): Courtyard of the Victoria and Albert museum, an extraordinary collection of 145 galleries and over 2 million objects. (Top right) Although individual ceramic items are not that exciting, the sheer scale of the exhibits is impressive. (Bottom left) Extraordinary door lock (17th C?). (Bottom right) One of the “cast courts” containing reproductions, here of Michelangelo’s David.
